"Shorty" McVay feeling good about filling sand bags while Dave Hewitt operates the Mexican back hoe.  Behind Larry is a "Mule", a motorized flatbed for transporting supplies from the chopper pad to various areas on the Fire Support Base.  Building a fire base was hard work, the engineers would bring in a dozer and a rubber tired back hoe, the grunts would fill thousands of sand bags for bunkers, sleeping positions and fighting positions.
